Jean Merrick Maddux

Jean Merrick Maddux attended Garrison Forest School and Washington College, where she majored in Studio Art. She spent most of her summers taking Plein Air art classes with Fritz Briggs, who introduced her to watercolors. She was a member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. 

After a break from art, while raising 3 boys, she began painting house portraits for clients in watercolor.  In 2003, she was introduced to oil painting at the Mitchell Art School. 

Jeannie's subject matter was mostly from vacation spots, which offered spectacular views of mountains, lakes, rocky coastlines, beaches, lighthouses and beautiful farmland. 

In the last decade she has been taking art workshops with national artist in Maine, Arizona, California, Virginia and Maryland's Eastern Shore.  

She has been in several solo shows at the Gibson Island Club and group shows at the Elkridge Club, Cylburn Arboretum and the Valleys Planning- "Art for Land's Sake" shows. She also coordinates the monthly rotating art shows at the Gibson Island Club.
