In more recent years, Nancy has been concentrating on “contemporary life”, especially bistro and kitchen scenes as well as people at work. She also enjoys painting still life in the studio to keep practiced at painting from life. Nancy feels her plein air experience has helped to keep her studio paintings fresh and focused. Her most recent body of work features landscapes where the presence of man has had an impact.
Nancy is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters, and a juried member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters the Oil Painters of America, and the Salmagundi Club in NYC. In 2004, she was one of the primary organizers of the first annual Easton Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival and served as the competition chairperson in 2005 and 2006.
She has continued to foster the growth of the plein air movement by helping other plein air events organize, by serving as jurist and frequently participating as an artist. Her most recent plein air awards are Best of Show at Lighthouse Plein Air in Tequesta, Florida in March 2017, and Best Painting by a Maryland Artist at Plein Air Easton in 2016.
A co-founder of the Easton Studio & School, now the Easton Studio, Nancy teaches weekly classes and several weekend workshops a year in Easton and other locations in the US and abroad.
