Sydney Hopkins

Sydney Hopkins was born and raised in Baltimore, growing up during the colorful decades of the 1950s and 60s, from which many of her influences stem.  She graduated from Bryn Mawr School, then spent college years attending the experimental studio art school, Montserrat College of Art, near Boston, MA.

After school, Sydney lived in New York City, California and Mexico for a time, before returning to the Baltimore area, where she has lived and painted since.  Though she has shown her paintings extensively, she has supplemented her studio work with a variety of jobs.

Twenty-five years ago, her painting and color skills led her to steady work as a decorative painter, and she pursued that career with satisfaction and much success, all the while working side by side with her husband, Yaro Soltis, in the home renovation business.

Sydney has recently put her decorative brushes aside, though not her fine art brushes, to return to work in the interior design world, as a project manager for Katherine Crosby at Jenkins Baer Associates in Baltimore.

She lives with her husband in the beautiful countryside of Baltimore County, which the Valleys Planning Council has so diligently and successfully worked to preserve.  They share their home with a black cat and a crazy black dog.
